October is Mental Health Month, and as someone deeply passionate about wellness and counseling, I find this time of the year to be especially significant. Hi there, I'm Yvette, a Specialist Wellness Counselor and Life Coach based in Midstream. I've been married to my wonderful husband, Steve, for 26 years, and we have two amazing daughters, aged 23 and 21. Today, I want to share some thoughts on why Mental Health Month matters so much to me and why it should matter to you too.
Mental health is a topic that's close to my heart because, through my work, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of seeking help and support. It's crucial to recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health. In fact, they are intricately connected. Our emotional well-being impacts our physical health and vice versa. So, this month is an opportunity for us to prioritize self-care and break the stigma surrounding mental health.
As someone who loves the outdoors and adventure, I know the therapeutic benefits of spending time in nature and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment. Whether it's running in the fresh air, reading a captivating book, or watching a TV series that allows you to unwind, these are all forms of self-care that can positively impact your mental health.
In my counseling and coaching practice, I often remind my clients that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. This Mental Health Month, I encourage you to reach out to a professional if you're struggling or simply want to enhance your well-being. Together, we can all work towards creating a world where mental health is a priority, where we can openly discuss our challenges, and where support is readily available.
Mental Health Month is an opportunity for us to reflect on our own well-being, seek support when needed, and work towards a society where mental health is a topic we can discuss openly without fear or judgment. Let's take this journey towards better mental health together and continue to grow, support one another, and make a positive impact on as many lives as possible.
