QUIETEN DOWN

When we are emotionally and spiritually depleted we tend to avoid God and could feel that He has let us down or that we have let Him down.

But we can be so thankful that God seeks to restore us spiritually by drawing us into solitude. When we are at a point where feel all on our own we come to realise that the presence of God is right there with us. When reading Mark 6:31 we see Jesus telling his busy and distressed disciples "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and come get rest.

This is why it is so important to schedule a time in your day to go to a specially chosen place where you can be alone, shut out distractions, turn off your phone, and simply be present to God and yourself. Remember it is in the quiet place that you become aware of God's still whisper that you desperately need to hear.

When you lose touch with the Caller you lose touch with your calling. But when you shut out the distractions of this world and are in a quiet, God-attentive place, you will hear Him speak the words you need to hear the most. God's Spirit could even lead you to reflect on the areas where you have gone wrong, allowing you to repent of your poor decisions, overstretched lifestyle, and exaggerated self-importance.

It is so important for you to experience God's fatherly affirmation and tenderness because you are His son or daughter. Furthermore, it is crucial that you wrap your head and mind around the fact that you are loved regardless of what you do or don't do for God. This will take away the performance anxiety that is so easy to instill into your ministry to others. Do your best for God, not because you are trying to earn His love but because it is already yours. Also, when you are settled in God's unconditional, lavish love you will be freed from trying to find your joy in the work that you do for God.

God wants to remind you that you have a unique inheritance and purpose. He wants to remind you of who He is to you and who you are to Him (Galatians 4:7). When seeking God in your solitude, He will renew your sense of calling, give you clarity about what He wants you to focus on, and impart to you the conviction and courage to do it.

May God restore you spiritually and help you to hear His gentle whisper.
